Have you ever experienced the mishap of staining your carpet with lipstick? Well, that does happen quite a lot especially in homes with kids playing all over the house. If such a thing happens there is no need to panic because the stain can be as good as gone when you apply the necessary steps. Here’s the good news of how to remove lipstick from a carpet.

Immediately after you stain your carpet with lipstick the first thing is to remove large pieces of the stain. Look for a spoon or a dull knife and carefully take out the large pieces leaving small amounts of stain on the carpet. Ensure that you do not damage your carpet while doing this.

What follows is getting rid of any loose lipstick on the carpet surface. Here you look for a clean damp cloth and blot the stained area removing all the loose particles.

When that is done, get a white clean cloth and some dish detergent mixed with warm water and hand wash the area until the spot is clear. For a cleaner surface, consider rubbing the carpet fibers in a circular motion moving from outside to the center of the lipstick stain. Also remember to keep on blotting the wet carpet using a clean dry cloth to ensure all the stain is removed.

In some instances you may find that the lipstick stain is still visible even after hand washing with the detergent. Now in such a case you need to apply an all-purpose stain remover. You can also try rubbing the remaining stubborn stain with a cloth saturated with nail polish remover. Other helpful products that you can use in this step are vinegar, ammonia or hairspray.

Now as you finish rinse the formally stained area with clean water then blot it dry using a white clean cloth. This ensures that detergents or any other product that you may have used are removed.

That’s it! With these simple steps of how to remove lipstick from a carpet, you now need not to worry about your kids playing around your house. After all you have the skills to get rid of any lipstick stain that would be spilled on your carpet.
