Looking to incorporate more bright colors into your home design? It’s not uncommon to be unsure where to start when it comes to using bright colors—for many homeowners, they are a little intimidating.

The key to bright colors is balance and thoughtfulness. Check out these ideas to help you get started:

Mimic Nature. If you are afraid of mismatching colors, this technique won’t fail you! Think about a beach—what colors do you see at the beach? Take those colors and use them for your decorating.

Try using these colors for a great beach room: light blue or light turquoise, sandy tan, and clean whites.

Brighten Up a Calm Color. If you have a solid, calm color on the wall, juxtapose it with brightly colored patterns on furniture and fabric. The great thing about this is that you can test how you like the pattern against the color by getting a test fabric and holding it up against the wall!

For a little guidance, take a look at a color wheel and find complimentary colors; it will help you eyeball how well the colors go together.

Bold Color on the Wall. Most often, homeowners will put a neutral or calmer color on the wall, then incorporate colors through furniture and accessories. However, you can reverse that for a completely different look.

Choose a bold, bright color for the walls, then fill the space with neutral furniture. The contrasts will make the room pop and feel energetic.

If you haven’t already, do you think you will try bright colors in your home décor?
