Of course, these products never seem to actually deliver on the promises, which really isn't all that surprising. The good news is that you can skip the nonsense because it is easy to make homemade cleaning solutions that work really well.

Cleaning the Tub

Looking for a simple and inexpensive solution to cleaning your bathtub? You can take advantage of this perfect homemade solution, but you are going to need a long list of supplies, including:

  1. 1 grapefruit
  2. ¼ cup of kosher salt

Okay, perhaps not such a long list of ingredients! Yes, this is really all you need to clean a tub. Just follow these steps:

  1. Cut the grapefruit in half.
  2. Sprinkle salt on the grapefruit surface.
  3. Spray water on the surfaces to be cleaned and let it drain away.
  4. Lightly spread salt around the bottom of the tub.

Now start running the open face of the grapefruit over the surface of the bathtub, just as you would a sponge. Make sure to slightly squeeze the grapefruit as you move it around so that the acidic juices can mix with the salt. Lift the grapefruit up and set in on a new salty area of the tub after every couple of strokes. Do the tub and fixtures from top to bottom and you will have a clean tub that also smells fantastic. This works every time!

Bathtub Grout

Try to clean it and you will soon agree. The gunk that gets in thereis pure evil. Fortunately, a few items you already have at home are great for cleaning dirty grout. Just follow these steps:

  1. Add a 50/50 mixture of vinegar and water to a spray bottle.
  2. Grab a sacrificial toothbrush.
  3. Spray the grout and let it sit for a minute.
  4. Scrub the grout with the toothbrush in circular motions.

This should be sufficient to clean the grout if you do it twice a month. If the grout is really nasty, mix baking soda with water and apply it to the worst areas of the grout. Scrub again with the toothbrush and you should be good to go.

DIY

Cleaning your bathtub doesn't need to be a nightmare. Use these two techniques frequently and you will have a bathtub that both smells nice and is perfectly clean.
